OVERVIEW
The aim of the SLS Trust is to work for the welfare of children and senior citizens by working in collaboration with the development rehabilitation program of the government. Furthering this aim, SLS Memorial Residential School has been established to focus on all-round development by inculcating valuable lesson plans on Academics, Arts, Culture, Yoga, and Value Education. The school is located at Pahadpur, Badampahar, Dist Mayurbhanj, Odisha. The trust is working towards promoting the use of technology and expanding the infrastructural facilities.
The objective of the school is to provide a suitable shelter to destitute and orphaned children and work towards making education accessible to them. The school is undertaking activities for the development of scheduled castes, scheduled tribes, and other backward caste and minority communities by organizing public functions, sports, and cultural programs like dances, drama, meetings, meals, and pujas that will cater towards the overall development of an individual.
The Trust is taking adequate steps for the underprivileged as discussed. Additionally, it is working towards the promotion of women's welfare activities such as education, vocational training, self-employment, small savings, legal education, health, nutrition, family planning, etc. There are various programs, such as health, education, nutrition, and recreation centres, that have been started for the development of slum children.
It also aims to undertake health and family welfare projects and provide medical and educational facilities to the weaker sections of society, including pure drinking water and awareness about sanitation. It plans to spread knowledge of citizenship and work jointly with the State Welfare Board.
VISION & PHILOSOPHY
Education is today identified as an essential pillar for the overall development of an individual. It is as essential for an individual’s survival as "food, clothing, and shelter," which makes it extremely important that education be made accessible to all.
The SLS Trust's vision and philosophy here is to create an environment where students will further their curiosity for knowledge, enhance the foundation of their thinking, and learn the basic values in their journey towards the various stages of their lives, which will help them make better decisions because life is all about decision-making skills.
