OVERVIEW

Education is today identified among the basic needs, as essential for an individual’s survival as ‘food, clothing and shelter’. The need for education has been recognized in all parts of the country and among all sections of society. Education brings success and success translates into social recognition. Though we have developed well in higher education system, a limited infrastructure facility is there in most of the educational institutions. Opening a school in India is a herculean task, however more and more people are entering in school business’ for the demand for school appears unending in India.

Discipline is an integral and essential aspect of school life. The school is the first place to learn discipline. This is also the second home for children. So it is very important to learn discipline in school. Discipline does not mean that the child is not free to do anything. Discipline means to do things in a systematic way, like coming to school in a neat, tidy and well uniformed manner, doing homework properly, maintaining discipline on the road and in school campus, facing a problematic situation and finding solution for it, maintaining good health, developing positive attitude towards others etc.

So the best place to teach a child to be discipline is at school. The school is the actual place to form the character of the child, as at school a child gets more pressure to change than at home.

At this location, on account of the tribal areas, the children in this area will get an opportunity to attend school in a formal manner and inculcate the discipline required for foral entry into the society.

SLS Trust has the objective of working for the Destitute, Orphans, Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Class and Minority Community by the way of providing suitable education to them for bringing them in to the mainstream of the society. A school in this section of the country fits right into their vision for the education of these sections.

Keeping in mind SLS Trust vision and philosophy here is to create an environment where students will further their curiosity for knowledge, enhance the foundation of their thinking, and learn the basic values in their journey towards the various stages of their lives. Thus formation of SLS Memorial Residential School came into existence.

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE

“ In the words of APJ Abdul Kalam, Education should build the capacities of the spirit of inquiry, creativity , enterprenerial and moral leadership among students and become their role model.’’

First of all, I would very much grateful to Smt. Droupadi Murmu the Hon’ble President of India for giving me all the charge to act as a Headmaster of S.L.S Memorial Residential School, Pahadpur. After my retirement from service. I praised her decision to build this school at her native village Pahadpur in Mayurbhanj district in the memory of her husband Late Shyam Charan Murmu & two sons Late Laxman Murmu & Sipun Murmu. She decided to start this school from Class-VI to Class-X in the session 2016-17. The aims and purpose of the establishment of this school is to provide quality education for boys & girls especially for ST & SC and socially, economically backward class in the rural area. All the teachers appointed in the school are well educated &qualified who dedicate their life to improve the school as well as the children. I hope it will be an ideal school in future.

Education is not just a process of giving knowledge for a future job but a lifelong process which creats an understanding of moral and ethical values to guide one’s life in a right path at S.L.S Memorial Residential School, Pahadpur we focus on complete development of our students by involving them in both scholastic and Co-Scolastic activities as suggested by B.S.E Odisha. I am sure this will help our children to realize, understand & explore their talents. In order to do this the parents and the school authorities must work together to inculcate certain values in the students . sound body has a sound mind. Let us allow our children to develop physically & mentally. Therefore children must be given good training from their earliest childhood. we are here for the same.

Do the work with intension not because of compulsion. With all my love, best wishes and blessings.
